Eagles sit atop region
The Pisgah Eagles used a 21-point first half and squashed a New Hope Indians’ comeback attempt en route to a 35-20 region win on Friday night.
The Eagles (7-1, 6-0) jumped out early with a nine-play, 76-yard drive on the games opening possession. Blair Kenimer put the Eagles on top 7-0 with an 8-yard touchdown run. On the ensuing kickoff, the Eagles came up with the ball on an unintentional onside kick. Six plays later Kennimer hit Zack Peek for a touchdown, pushing Pisgah's lead 14-0.

Eagles Travel To New Hope
Pisgah Eagles (6-1) @ New Hope Indians(2-5)
Series: Pisgah leads 12-3
Last Meeting: Pisgah 25 New Hope 19
Last Five Games: Pisgah 5-0, New Hope 2-3
The Eagles travel to New Hope in hopes of adding one more win to the good column.
Pisgah will rely on the legs of Josh Sensor and Jeb Woods, both backs rushed for over 100 yards last week against Sylvania.
The field conditions will most likely deny much of a passing attack, but Blair Kenimer should have no troubles finding open receivers against the Indians.
If the season ended today, Pisgah would be tied with Sardis for the region title, those two are set to play next week with the Lions taking on Susan Moore tonight.
A Sardis win along with a Pisgah win tonight would ensure the Eagles a first-round home playoff game. A Sardis loss would make next week's game against the Lions extremely interesting, with tie-breaking procedures that could send the Eagles to first or even down as far as third in the region standings.
Needless to say, tonight will tell a big part in the story of 3A Region 6.

Pisgah blacks out Section
Friday night at Sam Kenimer Stadium, the Pisgah Eagles called for a "Black Out".
While not all of the fans got the memo, Pisgah, in all black uniforms, lit up the scoreboard early and often in a 40-6 triumph over their county rival Section.
Section pounded the ball up the middle on the first play from scrimmage as Aaron Chapman ground out a 14 yard gain on the play for a quick first down. The Lions drive would stall, however, after consecutive penalties pushed them deep into their own territory and forced a punt.

Pisgah-Section renew rivalry
Section Lions (0-4) @ Pisgah Eagles (3-1)
Series: Pisgah leads 20-8*
Last Meeting: Pisgah 15 Section 19
Last Five Games: Pisgah 3-2, Section 1-4
Pisgah will host the Section Lions on Friday night at Sam Kenimer Stadium. Last season, the Lions bested the Eagles on homecoming and left a sour taste in the Eagles' mouths.
Blair Kenimer will lead the Eagles offensive attack again. Kenimer has been spectacular this season, especially in his most recent outing. He has completed 23-of-44 passes for 304 yards and five touchdowns with just one interception.
Josh Sensor has paced the ground game this season. Sensor has 46 rushes for 265 yards and four trips to pay dirt.
Section will have to find a way to stop this balanced Eagles attack. Thusfar this season, the Lions have had trouble stopping anything.
For the Eagles, this game has a revenge factor after last season's embarrassing loss at Section.
As long as they are not overlooked, Pisgah should easily stretch the series lead.
*The 20-8 series is not completely accurate. I could not find scores for a few years in the 60's and 70's.

Pisgah Downs Crossville
**NOTE**
I apologize for not having a pre-game report on last week's affair. I will have one ready for this week vs. Section. Go Eagles!
Pisgah broke open a 7-7 tie with a 28-point second quarter en route to a 41-14 win over the Crossville Lions in region play on Friday night.
The win put the Eagles at 3-1 on the year and 3-0 in Class 3A Region 6. Crossville fell to 1-3 and 1-2 in the region. It also proved, for the time being, that the Eagles, who upset Susan Moore a week ago, can handle prosperity after struggling to get a win in years past.

Upset Special
Pisgah picked the perfect time to notch its first ever win against Susan Moore.
Blair Kenimer capped a 12-play, 82-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown run and Blain Smith knocked through the extra point with less than a minute to play to give the Pisgah Eagles a 22-21 win over the Class 3A No. 6-ranked Susan Moore Bulldogs on Friday night at Sam Kenimer Stadium.
The win puts the Eagles (2-1, 2-0) a leg up in 3A Region 6 and puts two-time defending region champion Susan Moore (2-1, 1-1) on the losing end of a region game for the first time in two years.

5 Things to Watch: Susan Moore @ Pisgah
1. Special Teams Plays - Last season, Pisgah's lone touchdown came after a muffed punt by Susan Moore. Expect both teams to be on their best behavior during these important plays. Pisgah punter Micah Bass can boot the ball, so the Eagles will have to cover very well to contain the Bulldogs return men, who average 12 yards per return.
2. Passing Game - Blair Kenimer was 3-of-5 last week and threw a touchdown pass. Another TD was negated due to penalty and one sure touchdown pass was flat-out dropped. Justin Hawkins does not complete a lot of passes for the Bulldogs, but he will throw it long. He averages 11 yards a completion this season. And four people have receptions this year.
3. The Trenches - Every game is won and lost on the line. Poor linemen know it, but never get the glory. So, guys, here is your glory. And this week for both teams it will be pivotal to the contest. Susan Moore has just two sacks this season to Pisgah's four. Pisgah, recorded all of those last week at Brindlee Mountain.
4. Soft Spot - Pisgah linebacker Zach Matthews is a Susan Moore transfer. He has no love lost for the Bulldogs and is ready to put a lick on somebody in purple.
5. Coaching - Both teams have been under their respective coaches for quite a while. Bryan Jennings has created a monster in Blountsville and has Susan Moore in the playoffs annually. Terry Kenimer has enjoyed some recent success, but his first few years at Pisgah were not up to the Eagles usual standards. Since Pisgah made an appearance in the 2001 state championship game, the Eagles have only been to the playoffs twice. Expect that these two coaches want this win, but Kenimer could solidify his job with a win Friday night.

Eagles Get on Track
Pisgah quickly rebounded from last week's loss at the hands of the Ider Hornets and lit up the scoreboard for 45 first-half points en route to a 52-10 road win over the Brindlee Mountain Lions to open region play Friday night.
The Eagles moved to 1-1 overall, 1-0 in region play. Brindlee Mountain dropped to 0-2 and 0-1. It was the Lions' 21st straight loss.

Eagles prepare for Brindlee Mountain
Pisgah Eagles (0-1) @ Brindlee Mountain Lions (0-1)
Series: Pisgah leads 1-0
Last Meeting: Pisgah 14 Brindlee Mtn 0
Last Five Games: Pisgah 2-3, Brindlee Mtn 0-5
Pisgah will travel to Brindlee Mountain in an attempt to put a dismal performance at Ider behind them.
Getting back on the winning track should not be hard against the Lions. Brindlee Mountain has won just three games in three years of eleven man football.
Pisgah had a tough first outing, but the Eagles are eager to get back on the field and contend for a region title.
Blair Kenimer played as well as possible, coming back from a knee injury last season. Kenimer had good motion and mobility in the pocket last Friday night. He was 4-of-9 for 47 yards and a touchdown in the loss. He also rushed twice for 12 yards.
Jeb Woods will have to carry a bigger load this week for the Eagles to be successful.
Defensively, Pisgah struggled to tackle Ider's powerful back Teague Whitaker last week, and will have to perform better in that area to get a win.
Pisgah has lofty expectations this season and the Eagles will have to take the first step to the region championship Friday night.
